Alarislabs / inVoice Billing / Functionality / Routing functions

inVoice routing system works on top of the billing module and adds to its functionality.

The routing system is designed to be the core of the traffic exchange intelligence in terms of assuring maximum profit generation and SLA provisioning.

It takes care of the traffic distribution between vendor routes in a timely manner thus automatically providing for swap deals and traffic volume commitments.

The routing decisions are propagated to the underlying VoIP and/or TDM switches either via real time routing interfaces (ENUM, RADIUS) or by means of uploading static routing tables onto the switch.

The outline of the functionality of the routing system:

Routing highlights:

  • Real-time balance update to achieve maximum accurate user balance control.
  • Routing based on Cost, quality, combination of them and many other parameters (such as Gateways load, time of day, day of week, percentage call distribution between gateways).
  • Least Cost Routing based on real cost of calls, not just on plain rate. The real cost of a call might differ depending on the billing increment applied and the ACD observed on a particular destination. These parameters are addressed by the inVoice routing system.
  • Profit-Based Routing. This one is similar to LCR, but it takes into account the revenue that the system owner generates on each call rather than just the termination cost.
  • Volume commitment consideration. This function is intended for a situation when a carrier needs to fill some destination with a particular amount of minutes a month to get a lower price ultimately. Simple LCR would not be suitable for such a case.
  • Swap deals consideration allows for keeping the difference between traffic value sent TO and FROM a partner within the needed ranges.
  • Automated system of failed gateways re-verification. Once a gateway stops accepting calls it is automatically switched out of the regular routing. But small portions of calls still hit this gateway from time to time to catch the moment it is up and running again. The procedure is fully automated and does not need administrator assistance. This feature could also be used to test new gateways and destinations that a partner offers.
  • auto-mapping of customer and vendor dialcode breakouts in order to maximize your profits.
  • protection against negative margin (including rate errors on your side).
  • automated "cherry-picking"
  • Ability to create ANY new routing scheme using standard routing procedures.
  • Manually defined static routing. If the system owner does not want to apply automated dynamic rules for some reason, easy management of manual routing exceptions (per client/supplier/destination etc.) are allowed.
  • combination of fixed and dynamic routing for one and the same carrier/destination possible
  • routing for most popular softswitches performed via realtime APIs
  • upload of routing data as static tables onto TDM switches in the required format

Throughput capacity:

Up to 300 CPS per one entry point (for larger networks it is possible to install several traffic entry points)
